Patent and Trade Mark Attorney

Dave is a UK Chartered Patent Attorney, a registered European Patent Attorney and Registered Trade Mark Attorney.

Dave has a BSc degree with Honours in Electronics from Surrey University. He has worked as a European Search Examiner at the European Patent Office in The Hague within the field of computer related inventions. Dave began training to become a patent Attorney in 1991 and obtained a MSc degree in Intellectual Property from Queen Mary and Westfield College in 1992. He then joined Appleyard Lees where he qualified as a UK Registered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney, and progressed from technical assistant through to partnership. In 2001, Dave left Appleyard Lees to pursue his ski racing ambitions and act as a self-employed Intellectual Property Consultant.

Dave has extensive experience of drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications to grant in the fields of computing, electronics, electrical and mechanical engineering, information technology and computer software. Dave is also experienced at providing infringement and freedom to operate opinions, as well as conducting oral proceedings before the European Patent Office.
